KWeather to Become South Korea’s First Public Company With XRP Exposure After VivoPower Deal

KWeather's Partnership with VivoPower

KWeather, a company listed on Korea's KOSDAQ, has signed a non-binding heads of agreement with VivoPower International PLC. Under this partnership, VivoPower will invest US$5 million to acquire a 20% share in KWeather, becoming its second-largest shareholder. This investment aims to position KWeather as the first publicly listed South Korean company offering exposure to XRP and potentially Ripple Labs shares. Additionally, VivoPower will hold two of the five board seats at KWeather.

Vision for XRP-Focused Blockchain Division

Dong Sik Kim, the CEO of KWeather, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: “We are honored to partner with VivoPower to launch our XRP-focused digital asset and blockchain division. We also look forward to welcoming Adam Traidman, former Ripple Labs board member, to our board of directors.” This strategy aligns with KWeather's goal to be the first publicly listed company in South Korea to offer shareholders exposure to XRP and potentially Ripple Labs shares. The agreement's closing is targeted for November 30, 2025, subject to standard conditions.

Introduction of WeatherCoin

In collaboration, KWeather and VivoPower’s Vivo Federation—the digital assets division of VivoPower—plan to launch WeatherCoin, the world’s first token promoting climate risk management. Kevin Chin, Executive Chairman of VivoPower, commented: “Beyond the XRP-focused digital asset reserve, we are looking forward to building the WeatherCoin token together as a tool for risk management, amongst other use cases.” Vivo Federation aims to expand this model globally by creating a network of public companies that share its vision for decentralized and impact-driven financial solutions.

KWeather's Dominance in Weather Data Market

With a hold on approximately 90% of South Korea’s private weather information market, KWeather has evolved from providing basic weather data to offering a comprehensive weather and air data service model. The company's rich history of maintaining long-term weather and air quality records is expected to play a crucial role in its collaboration with VivoPower. South Korea is notably one of the most active regions for XRP, evidenced by its high trading volumes and large number of token holders.

XRP Market Update

Currently, XRP has experienced a drop of over 5% in the last 24 hours, trading near $2.8 amid broad market weakness. Analysts note potential support levels at $2.25 and risks of further dips to $2.1. Despite the bearish sentiment, long-term holders remain optimistic about the token's recovery potential in the future.
