Core Areas of Focus in the Crypto Market
Jack Yi, the founder of Liquid Capital, highlighted three key areas of the crypto market that he believes can “transcend cycles.” These areas are: public chains, exchanges, and stablecoins. Yi emphasized that these are the core pillars of the digital asset ecosystem and should be watched closely by investors. He cited Ethereum, BNB, and Aster as standout projects within these categories.
The Role of Public Chains, Exchanges, and Stablecoins
According to Yi, these three areas are not fleeting market trends but rather the backbone of the crypto ecosystem. Public chains provide foundational infrastructure, exchanges act as liquidity hubs and adoption gateways, and stablecoins ensure transactional stability, bridging traditional and decentralized finance. Each segment plays a distinct and crucial role in the market’s long-term growth and resilience.
Ethereum: The Public Chain Leader
Yi specifically highlighted Ethereum (ETH) as the public chain to focus on. Backed by data from DeFi Llama, Ethereum remains the largest public blockchain with a total value locked (TVL) of $75.21 billion as of November 5, 2025, accounting for 67.32% of all DeFi TVL. Ethereum is home to 1,660 protocols, significantly surpassing competitors like Solana, Binance Smart Chain (BSC), and Bitcoin.
Exchanges: BNB and Aster
BNB and Aster were named as the most promising exchanges by Yi. He praised BNB’s stable income and robust ecosystem, describing Aster as Binance’s “second growth curve.” Aster holds the highest strategic importance within Binance’s ecosystem despite being ranked 6th in TVL among BSC protocols. With a TVL of $531.4 million, it trails behind PancakeSwap and Lista Dao, but it has shown rapid growth after receiving support from YZi Labs Chairman Changpeng Zhao.
Liquid Capital's Crypto Investments
Liquid Capital, previously known as LD Capital, has invested in over 300 blockchain projects since its inception in 2016. The fund focuses primarily on DeFi (31.3%), GameFi (24%), and blockchain infrastructure (21.7%). Its portfolio includes prominent projects such as Certik, Republic, CoinList, Qredo, and MEXC. Jack Yi has shown particular interest in Ethereum, holding 100,000 ETH call options, while also favoring smaller altcoins like UNI, which ranks as Liquid Capital’s third-largest investment after Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Insights on Future Investment Strategies
Yi stressed the importance of focusing on leading projects within public chains, exchanges, and stablecoins. He suggested that all major market corrections should be viewed as investment opportunities, aligning with the idea that “the strong will only grow stronger.” This long-term perspective underscores Liquid Capital’s strategy of prioritizing market leaders in key areas.
